Get the Professionals to Permanently Remove Birds from Your Business

When you think about pests that can damage your commercial property, do birds fly across your mind? Many people overlook the significant issues that pesky birds can create.

Birds contaminate areas with corrosive droppings that can damage structures and create slippery conditions that increase the likelihood of slip-and-fall accidents. Birds nesting on or in commercial structures could also introduce diseases, parasites, and other insects into the environment, putting the health of business owners, employees, and clients at risk.

The issue is serious enough that if the health department discovers pest birds on your property, you will be forced to shut down until the problem is remedied. Fortunately, this costly problem can be avoided with a mix of prevention, proactive commercial bird removal, and professional bird control services. From bird exclusion services to removal and remediation, USX Pest is here for you and all your commercial bird control needs.

Some common commercial bird control species include:

Pigeons come in many varieties, are present in both urban and rural regions, and their lifespan ranges from three to 15 years depending on the habitat. The primary issue arising from pigeon infestations is the accumulation of droppings, which can carry diseases and lead to the deterioration of buildings and structures.

Starlings are prevalent in rural and urban areas, having developed immunity to many disturbances. Their lifespan is typically two to three years. Starlings tend to live in colonies, causing noise disruptions, and their droppings can spread diseases and create hazardous conditions.

Sparrows can live for up to 13 years and are commonly found near farms, rural areas, and urban settings. They have the potential to contaminate food sources, harm crops, and spread diseases through their droppings.

Swallows inhabit both urban and rural regions and have a lifespan of up to 16 years. The droppings of swallows can lead to unsafe conditions and transmit diseases.

Seagulls: Seagulls are often spotted near bodies of water, but their adaptability as effective scavengers allow them to thrive near any available food source. Their lifespan can extend up to 20 years. Besides being a nuisance, the seagull droppings can cause damage and can carry diseases.

How It Works

To prevent an infestation or damage to your business, points of entry need to be sealed and nesting spots must be eliminated. More importantly, damaged areas of the roof, fascia, or soffit will need to be repaired. Eliminating the points of entry help to encourage birds to seek solitude elsewhere.

Bird Deterrents

USX Pest uses a variety of visual and sound deterrents to encourage birds to leave the area. This equipment makes it uncomfortable for birds to rest, eat, and nest on your building.

Importance of Commercial Bird Removal and Control

Pest birds pose a real threat to your commercial property and business. Droppings contain uric acid, which can corrode equipment and damage structural elements. Moreover, birds sometimes carry parasites and as many as 60 different diseases. Bird nests are also problematic, often creating drainage issues and introducing other pests into the environment.

Bird Transmitted Diseases

Birds can carry many different diseases. The more birds fly through or nest on your property or inside buildings, the higher the likelihood of transmitting these dangerous pathogens to humans. Contact with live or dead birds, feathers, droppings, nest materials, and contaminated surfaces all poses a health risk. Birds can transmit influenza, psittacosis, salmonellosis, and histoplasmosis, just to name a few diseases.

Bird Parasites

Diseases aren’t the only risk. Birds may have internal or external parasites that can not only infect them, but also end up infecting humans and other animals. Examples include roundworms, tapeworms, chewing lice, fleas, ticks, and the protozoa that causes Giardia, an intestinal illness.

Insects That Can Be Found in Bird Nests

Many insects thrive inside bird nests, where they can feed on the birds and find shelter to create their own colonies. Once the birds leave the nest, those insects often spread out in search of other hosts, potentially finding their way indoors to feed on humans. Fleas and ticks are common around birds, as are bird mites. These tiny pests look a lot like bed bugs and bite humans, although they can’t survive on human blood.

Bird Exclusion Services

Keeping birds out of your commercial property and preventing them from roosting can dramatically decrease the risk of pest birds becoming a problem. USX Pest’s commercial bird exclusion services provide multiple options to do just that. Used singularly or in combination, these strategies and services provide the peace of mind that comes with knowing your property is protected.

Bird Netting

Keep birds out while preserving human access. Our bird netting is made of three-quarter-inch black polyethylene that we install flush to the underside of structures, pull taut, and secure with fasteners. We can install zippers in areas you specify to allow easy access to service locations and other areas.

Bird netting is commonly used when treating for pigeons, swallows, and sparrows.

Bird Wire

USX Pest technicians can install bird wire with spring systems on suspended horizontal pipes located below bird netting. This solution deters birds from roosting without inhibiting operations.

Bird Spikes

USX Pest’s bird spikes can help control bird populations and deter them from nesting on your property without harming them. Our technicians cut and install spikes on horizontal surfaces, providing an effective solution in certain circumstances.

It’s essential to note that bird spikes only work well with specific species and environments. Bird spikes are helpful with deterring pigeons and sparrows.

Bird Slides

Many commercial properties and structures feature small ledges that are like a “welcome” sign to birds looking for a spot to roost. Our customized slides are customized and made from high-performance materials to keep birds away from these areas.

Ultrasonic and Visual Bird Deterrents

At USX Pest, we also have ultrasonic and visual deterrents to help break up nests and prevent birds from nesting in the first place. Our ultrasonic approach uses a system comprised of four speakers that covers 6,500 square feet. We can create custom solutions for larger commercial spaces to incorporate this technology to deter pest birds without interrupting business as usual.

Visual deterrents employ lasers and random patterns to alarm and confuse birds, motivating them to vacate the premises. Both options are safe, humane, and environmentally friendly.

Bird deterrents are used when treating for pigeons (using ultrasonic deterrents or bird lasers), starlings (using sonic devices that mimic predator calls), and sparrows (also using ultrasonic devices).

Bird Removal and Restoration Services

We understand that deterrence isn’t always enough. That’s why USX Pest employs multiple approaches to commercial bird removal for effective control. Our technicians are licensed and trained to use effective, environmentally friendly strategies that suit the property and the circumstances. Our experienced technicians use eviction approaches such as trapping, physical removal, and harassment.

Afterwards, our team will remove all traces of the pest birds, including nests and droppings.

Bird Deterrents for Your Business

USX Pest uses a variety of visual and sound bird deterrents to encourage the birds to leave the structure and not return.

These deterrents include bird spikes, bird netting, and predator bird call boxes. This equipment makes it uncomfortable for birds to build their nest on your home, business, or any other structure.

USX Pest also performs minor repairs to buildings which prevent the birds from getting inside or building a nest in the future.
